A few questions about OGS (Both Technical and General)

Hello,

I am currently using OGS to validate my THM model. As a new user, I have encountered to some questions:

1- Isn’t there any new version of Manual for OGS rather than “Leipzig – Jan 2008” one? It introduces keywords which are obsolete now, for instance: $COUPLING_ITERATIONS

2- How can I find the related files to those benchmarks which are recently published in “Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical-Chemical Processes in Porous Media” book. Specifically, I was looking for section 5.6 (2D S.S Flow in Porous media with Discerete Fracture)

3- Does MeshAdaption feature work in OGS. I know that it worked in RockFlow and there are sample files for it. The option is also available in Processes module of Gina, but how does it work?

4- I want to fully couple my THM model. I think this scheme is addressed as Monolithic in OGS. I couldn’t find a good benchmark which use this scheme for 3 or 4 coupled processes (I found the Monolithic sample of HnM but what if there is Thermal process). Also, should I use DEFORMATION_FLOW when it is a THM or that is just specified for HM models?

I really do appreciate your help and advice in advance.

Truely Yours,
Amin.

Dear Amin,

As far as I know, Joshua Taron was implementing a monolithic coupling scheme, which has grown to some extent. Norbert Böttcher is currently trying to merge the code into a new version, maybe you can get in touch with him?

Best,

Marc

Hi Amin,

(2) Access to the OGS benchmark input files currently is accessible through the OGS Wiki (please contact for immediate access) and will be available through ogs.org from December. (3) MeshAdaptation currently is not supported in version 5.# as too complex/time-consuming for fully coupled THMC problems (we are focussing on coupling currently), it will available in ogs^6 again. (4) For developing new THM models we recommend the definition of benchmark tests, which BTW will be included to the next benchmark book making all contributors to co-authors. Hi,
last but not least I heard that a new manual is in preparation.
