AGU session "Numerical modelling of geo-energy related physical processes in geological systems"

Dear all,

On behalf of all conveners, we would like to draw your attention to the session entitled "Numerical modelling of geo-energy related physical processes in geological systems" (Session ID#: 2829) at the upcoming AGU Fall Meeting which will be held in San Francisco (USA) from the 15th to the 19th of December 2014.

Abstract:
Numerical modelling of thermal, hydraulic, mechanical and chemical (THMC) processes in geological systems is of increasing interest for all geo-energy related studies. These include enhanced oil recovery, shale gas exploration and exploitation, CO2 storage in saline aquifers, and hydro- and enhanced geothermal applications. This session is intended to provide an overview of current research activities and, by discussing advances and challenges in modelling of coupled physical processes, it aims to stimulate new ideas. We invite contributions related to geo-energy systems ranging from innovative model applications to improved ways to integrate geological and geophysical data into model analysis as well as to the development of new numerical approaches. Contributions can encompass (1) all process modelling (THMC); (2) different spatial (regional or reservoir) and temporal (geologic to human) scales; and (3) all applications (from deep to near-surface). Contributions about modelling of THMC processes in fractured and faulted settings are of special interest.
