Darcy Flow in 1D

Hi everyone,

can anybody tell me which value needs to be entered into the source term file under "$DIS_TYPE" for 1D darcy flow, process type LIQUID_FLOW? Is it the volumetric flow rate, or the darcy velocity?

Background: I tried to conduct a quick benchmark, and got the correct results for the pressure drop over the model domain when using darcy velocity. However, the pressure drop changes when I change the radius of my tube ($GEOMETRY_AREA in the mmp file). This should only be the case when the volumetric flow rate is used.

Best regards,

Daniel

hi, you are right. that is volumetric flux for 1d meshes, as the mesh doesn't define a diameter of the tube.

best,
nori

For 1D CONSTANT type is the right choice for "$DIS_TYPE", which defines the volumetric flow rate or velocity if the area in .mmp is set to one.

OK, it’s clear now. I somehow thought that GEOMETRY_AREA defines the tube radius in 1d. Thanks!
