Density model "3" (concentration-dependent)

Dear OpenGeosys users and developers:
until ogs version 5.4.4, the effect of concentration on density was modelled with the keyword:

$DENSITY
3 1.000000e+003 0 0.2 ; C0 is 0. beta_C (drho_dC) is 0.2

in the .mfp file. We used this to solve the Elder problem (Chapter 11.2 of the 2012 book of benchmarks) and we got excellent results. From version 5.5.0 onwards however, this syntax appears to fail: the saline front advances only by diffusion. Does anybody know the new syntax for the density model “3”?

We take the chance to address a warm “Thank you” to the developers of OpenGeosys for their nice work.

Best regards,
John N.E. Papaspyros

Hi,

Please check your component name in *.mcp file. A component name for the density model 3 has been changed from "Isochlor" to "CONCENTRATION1" some time ago.

Regards,
Nori

Thank you very much dear Nori! You are right, of course: everything ran as it should when we changed all occurences of “Isochlor” to “CONCENTRATION1”.

With grateful regards,
John
