Liakopoulos TH2M/H2M benchmark: mismatch with Grunwald et al. (2022) Fig. 9 (vertical displacement profile)

I’m comparing Fig. 9 in Grunwald et al. (2022) (Liakopoulos test) with the results shown in the OGS benchmark notebook/page for the Liakopoulos case.

In particular, the vertical displacement profile differs noticeably: not only the magnitude, but the curvature appears inverted relative to the paper figure.

Could someone clarify whether:

  1. The benchmark notebook/page is intended to reproduce Fig. 9 exactly, or if it uses a different configuration/variant (e.g., different initial/boundary conditions, output times, sign convention, or plotted quantity)?
  2. There were changes in the setup since the paper (material laws, parameters, output selection, etc.) that explain the discrepancy?

Hi,
thank you very much for reporting this!

While I cannot answer your questions yet, I would like to let you know, that we opened an an issue to find the source of the mismatch and fix it.

I will post an update here when the issue is resolved.
